OSP Myanmar Project:
Every Tongue, Every Village
Project Statement
This project will bring the Word of God to Myanmar’s unreached and oral communities by training local leaders to start Oral Scripture Groups (OSGs) using 32 Bible stories recorded in six key languages. The stories will be shared through trusted voices in homes, fields, and villages—bringing transformation from within the culture, through the power of God’s Word.

Context and Need
Myanmar is a country marked by crisis and opportunity. Since the 2021 military coup and the 2025 earthquake, people are living with fear, displacement, and spiritual hunger. The majority of the population are oral learners with little access to Scripture in a format or language they can understand. Over 87% of the population is Buddhist, and only about 6% are evangelical Christians. Many rural and ethnic communities still do not have the Bible in their heart language.

Project Summary
This 12-month initiative will train 30 local leaders to lead OSGs (oral scripture groups) in their communities. These leaders will craft and record 32 biblical stories in 6 local languages (Burmese, Chin, Khumi, Mro, Karen, Lahu). There will be 40 groups launched to meet regularly in order to listen, reflect, and obey God’s Word. They will involve local communities in shaping, testing, and spreading the biblically crafted stories. The project is led by a trusted local leader, Salai Yaw Han. The project is designed to work in Myanmar’s current context—small, relational, reproducible, and Spirit-led and will be monitored carefully to track progress and capture life change.

Why This Will Succeed
This project will succeed by being shaped by those it serves and guided by OSP's values: Listen, Learn, Serve. We engage with local leaders to ensure each Oral Scripture reflects their culture and needs. By using local wisdom, we share Scripture through meaningful stories and questions, supporting leaders and fostering ownership.
Our simple yet powerful method involves delivering Oral Scripture in small, safe gatherings led by local believers, making God’s Word transformational in oral cultures.
We will address challenges like political instability and literacy barriers with flexible, low-tech strategies. Success will be measured by the growth of new Oral Scripture Groups and participant engagement. Designed to be scalable, this project will naturally spread and bear fruit, following Jesus' example of storytelling and empowerment.
