Gilbert
Director of Overseas Operations

Gilbert and his wife, Liz, have served in ministry for 35 years. Liz works alongside Gilbert to manage the details of our overseas financial accounting. They are the proud parents of 5 beautiful children. Gilbert has served as a pastor, oral ministries specialist with emphasis in ethnohermenuetics, SIL trainer, and OSP director of overseas operations. We are thankful for their partnership.

Testimony:

I was looking for something meaningful in my life (looking to friends, the world, peers). At 16 I wanted to know what to do with my life, so I tried many things. I begin to ask God to show me. I was not happy with my vices and I wanted to know the meaning of life. God answered my prayer: there was a group of young people singing about God in my dormitory. I asked them to tell me why they were singing and please explain to me about this. They shared the gospel with me and took me to a church service where I became a follower of Christ. I began to volunteer in the church and decided to go to Bible school and quit my college. My mother was very unhappy with me. My parents didn’t support my decision and I had no way to pay for my Bible school. I asked God’s provision and went on to seminary. I only preached at a church for a short time before God called me to missions.

(Gilbert’s parents have yet to follow Christ. He has been ostracized from his family for many years and his children aren’t welcomed by his parents or his sister’s family. This has caused much pain for them.

Gilbert and Ryder met at an orality conference 10 years ago and began working together. They have traveled throughout Asia Pacific training leaders in orality methods of evangelism and discipleship. Through the years they have become best friends)

Projects:

Gilbert travels monthly to Thailand, Laos, India, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, or Myanmar to meet with and provide training for our country coordinators. He coordinates and leads trainings faithfully for the spread of the gospel in Asia-Pacific.
